AICE Media Studies: CCR for my Riptide Music Video

CCR: Name: _______Joseph Gonzalez_________________   Creative Critical Reflection 1.      How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My product is not especially different compared to other music videos when it comes challenging conventions. It does a lot of similar things and has similar aspects to other music videos in the indie folk and indie pop genre. The setting is common for a lot of songs in the Indie genre in 2013. It features a beach setting with waves, the sun, sand, and happy people on the beach. The song is folk because of the stringy guitar and mellow vocals throughout the song. It also has influences from pop rock with the upbeat melody and changes in it throughout the song. Songs it may have influence from may be “Hey Soul Sister” as it has similar aspects. It follows the interest in love and having feelings for one person and how much they matter to you. The lyrics detail this quite well...

AICE Media Studies: Publishing my Riptide Music Video

Image
I'm back again with another blog. This will be my second to last blog on my video. The next one will be the CCR. I have finally finished my video. It has taken quite awhile and me and my partner have finally made the video. I added finishing touches to my video and I exported it to my computer. I then published it to YouTube and it is done. I think I did quite well considering my circumstances. Having said so, I believe I could have done better. There is always room to improve. Perhaps if I had used my time well i could have planned things out more efficiently. I could have gotten better footage. I also may have had a better idea if I researched more. Maybe if my partner and I communicated more we could have come up with better ideas13. I also think that maybe I could have more confidence. As always, I am constantly improving. The more I do, the better I will get. I am learning everyday I work on this class. Hopefully I will perfect filming and editing over the year. Those are the ...

AICE Media Studies: Editing for my music video project.

Image
Editing: After my last two blogs, me and my partner finally have all of our footage. Last weekend, we met up at the beach and filmed for our music video. We only got our beach scenes. However, yesterday my partner obtained the rest of the footage by himself. However, I had to cut the scene out as it is too long for the video and I can't shorten it. He sent me the footage he recorded and today I planned on editing it. I have worked on most of the footage today. I plan on adding finishing touches tomorrow and have my partner review it to make sure it's good. So for today, I am going to edit and put together our footage. The first scene is the opening shot of the beach. The song starts here. It slowly pans to the right showing me singing along. The next scene is the first actor singing by the beach. The next one is them walking down the beach while singing. The next scene is the second actor upon a tree looking overhead the beach. Afterwards, the camera cuts to both actors singi...

AICE Media Studies: Filming for my music video project

Image
Filming: As the week is almost over, so is my video. Although I had originally planned a few things to do this week, not much was done. This week I have had a ton of homework as our midterms are coming and my teachers are preparing us for them. I had said on my last blog that I would at least purchase the props needed for our video. However, this did not happen due to a few issues. School work for me personally has been tough and a lot of my time is focused on other classes as they are giving us more work. This leaves me with little time to work on and further plan out the video with my partner. Also, my partner hasn't communicated with me very well. He seems to be focused on other things as well. He also is probably doing a lot more homework too. Another issue is family issues that are personal. I also haven't had the time to go out and purchase the props and clothes needed for our video. My parents work the whole week except weekends. Because of this, I plan to purchase and...
