AICE Media Studies: Filming for my Music Video.

Image
Filming:      I am back from my thanksgiving break. Although we planned to film and record over the break, my partner had issues. They were out of town for the majority of break and came back today. Throughout the break though, I made sure we were ready to film. I checked the beach and the conditions are not optimal as there are tons of people still around and since there is a pandemic, we do not want to risk ourselves getting sick. My partner also needs to get tested as they went out town and we don't wanna risk it. I also need someone to take me and my parents can't during the weekdays as they have work. Even though these conditions aren't optimal, we still had to make sure everything is ready. I checked for the props and got them for the film and I went over the storyboard and location. My partner will hopefully know what to do as well and hopefully is healthy. Throughout this week, me and my partner will finalize plans for our music video. We cannot work during...

AICE Media Studies: Storyboard for our Music Video.

Image
For our music video, our group made a storyboard conveying the plans for the video. It details a step-by-step breakdown on how a video would play. The first scene starts with an opening shot on the ocean. It then shifts to the right to one of the actors. The actor then sings the start of the song. The camera moves closer as the actor continues singing. It then cuts to a back angle of the actor as they walk away from the camera along the beach. The camera then cuts to the bottom of a big tree. The camera moves up the tree all the way to the top. At the top, another actor is sitting on a branch while singing the lyrics again. After singing for awhile, the camera cuts to black. The camera then shows both actors sitting next to each other on the beach. They both sing more lyrics. The camera then cuts to a front view of the actors. Both are singing. The last scene has the video move up. It then gets a clear shot of the sky and fades to black. This storyboard should be an accura...

AICE Media Studies: Planning for my Riptide Music Video

Image
Planning: Props and Costumes: For our music video, we are planning to have a few props. This would include attire that represents the theme of the music video. We would wear beachy clothing, which includes loose clothing, tank tops, and t-shirts. Along with that, we would have shorts and swimming wear. For props, we may have a ball of some type, either a volleyball or beachball. We may also have a net or frisbee, depending on the weather conditions.  Song Title: Our title be simple named, "Riptide by Vance Joy Music Video Remix". Schedule:  On 11/16/20, me and my partner researched codes and conventions of music videos and information on Vance Joy's song Riptide. On 11/17/20, me and my partner planned out our schedule for our music video. We also decided our props, costumes, location list, and a back-up plan.  On 11/20/20, me and my partner will create a storyboard for our music video. On 11/27/20-11/30/20, me and my partner will film our music video. The days are ...

AICE Media Studies: Research Blog for my Vance Joy Music Video

Image
Research Blog:        This music video is fairly different from most of today's music videos and even then. This video is 7 years old, which means it was posted in 2013. Things were different in 2013 and therefore the way things have been done in the music industry were different. This entire video is the singer and writer of the song, Vance Joy next to a beautiful spot by the beach. He had a guitar and sang in the video without overlaying the edited and already released song. Sort of like an acoustic version you see. Although I'd love nothing more than to sing with my horrible pitch and vocal control. It'd be best if me and my partner stuck to overlaying the music rather than to sing it ourselves. As for the setting, a beach setting would be a nice fit which ties into the riptide theme and water. But I'll save that for the planning vlog. Along with the setting of the music, we need to figure out what kind of music it is and what emotions and vibrations it give...

AICE Media Studies: Introduction for Riptide Music Video

Intro Blog:      Hello. Today is the start of my Music video project. I will consisting of one other person. I will be working with my friend Skye Kallus Hill. Skye is a reliable and trustworthy partner. He can guarantee that he'll give his best effort in completing the project. I can trust that he will show up and help with the blogs. Together, we have decided to work together as a team. I have known him for a while and we will get along quite well. After discussing the project, we have picked our song. We will use the song Riptide by Vance Joy for our music video. We have picked this song for a few reasons. It is a favorite of mine and Skye seems to also like it. It is also clean and has no bad message. The message is also clear to understand and interpret. The song is also made by a popular artist Vance Joy. He is known for making popular and liked songs. This song is also a classic. With these reasons, we believe this is the best song we could pick. I look forwa...

AICE Media Studies: Reflection Questions for my Nike Air Jordan Commercial.

Image
Name: ____Joseph Gonzalez____________________   Creative Critical Reflection 1.      How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My product follows Nike Air Jordan Conventions by using the standard music in the 80s. It also follows a classic formula as commercials weren’t the greatest back then and you could tell the difference from that time to now. My product doesn’t represent any issues and represents basketball shoes.                     2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My product engages with the audience by having key attractions. The music is nostalgic to the 80s people. Jordan is also a famous player. By having a shoe by him, it is an example of ethos and people will buy it. It would be distributed as real media text as it has music and is tr...

AICE Media Studies: Nike Air Jordan Commercial

Image
Nike Air Jordan Commercial: This is my very first commercial. I have spent a long time developing it. From researching it and planning, all the way to filming, it is finally complete. I looked over it to make sure it was good. I am just starting to film and this is my first every film. Some things may not be the best. There are definitely improvements I can make once looking over it. However, I still need to develop my skills. I can improve my editing as some scenes are cut too early or late. My acting also needs work. I also need to find friends that can help me act as my parents aren't necessarily the greatest actors but it's okay. In the future, I will look back on this. I will see where I could've done differently. I will hopefully down the line improve my skills. It will take awhile but I will get there. As this is my first project, I am proud that I produced some kind of product. Filming isn't my specialty. However is was fun. I look forward to making more films i...

AICE Media Studies: Editing my Nike Air Jordan Commercial

Image
Editing my commercial: After filming and recording what I needed, I started to edit my footage. I gathered all the footage and decided which scenes were the best to use and what can be scrapped. A lot of clips were scrapped due to the fact that there were some issues with them. I had to re-do a lot scenes as it was incorrectly filmed. For example, a few scenes were messed up because I messed up my dribbling. Also, a few times I spoke too early or late. Sometimes it didn't look realistic enough so we re did them. Once I got my 6 scenes, I started to work. I put the scenes in the order of my storyboard. I cut some time off on some clips because some unnecessary parts. One had me saying something so I cut part of the clip off. I then added another scene at the end with the Jump Man Logo. I added a transition into there to make it seem smooth. After putting the clips together, I then added music. I had issues putting in the music. One of them was making the volume lower at certain ti...
